The single most important thing to understand about schools here is that The Palisades is not a school district. It is a 1,600-acre master-planned community inside Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and CMS draws its boundaries by street address. A community this large can be — and at times has been — split across assignments.
Southwest Charlotte has absorbed extraordinary growth over the past decade. CMS has responded by building new capacity, most visibly with the 2023 opening of Palisades High School, and by redrawing boundaries to match it.
